It is a fact that in every place in Greece where Hellenic people lived they used to take care with a particular attention of the wine's production. Before drinking they used to pour librations of the wine and they pray that the use of the "medicine" be harmless and safe from them. (Plutar. Mor. Table-Talk 3.655)
In Greece the vine was especially the symbol of DIONYSUS and for this reason it is represented in every depiction of this god.
We may also find the subject of the wine in the Jewish religion.
Christianity adopted the symbolism of the vine which influenced the hymnography and the byzantine art.
The whole story about this excellent product which the blessed vine gives to us it is an evidence that the ancient Greeks appreciated the wine so much that they call it as present of an important God DIONYSUS.
Also in the following years the wine is a symbol of transubstantiation to the Christ blood, while the wine always will be present in the man's delight, the feasts, the wedding, even in death.
